Frequently Asked Questions

  • Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) where players take on the role of heroes going on an adventure! Don't let the name deceive you, the game does not have to feature dungeons or dragons. At Dice Party, playing D&D means players get to go on fun, personal adventures that their characters can influence. If you are still unsure what D&D is about, sign up for our FREE intro session where we go over what D&D is, how to make a character, how to play, and then play through a one-shot!

  • The fee for each session is $49 and we ask that each player stays for a whole “story arc,” which is 15 weeks. These story arcs consist of ten 90-minute sessions; one session per week.

  • Sign up for a free 15-minute meeting with one of our DMs. This is so you can get to know us and so we can learn about any special needs. We have multiple time slots available each week.

After that meeting you can either attend the free intro session which occurs every month or sign up for a full 10 week campaign which starts every Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

  • Definitely not! A majority of our players have never played D&D before. We enjoy teaching new players and we have found that even the more experienced players are happy to help the new players out. If you've read the Players Handbook, watched an episode of Critical Role, or even just heard about it in class, then you're in a good place to start playing.

  • We work with all ages! We organize our groups by age, so pre-teens are with pre-teens (10-13), teens with teens (14-17), and adults with adults (+18). If you think your kid would do better outside of those age groupings contact us and we will try to find the best group for your child!

  • Each session lasts for 90 minutes. Each “story arc” consists of 10 of these sessions. However, many of the groups continue to play together for years.

  • Our groups are safe places for everyone. Dice Party strives to be an affirming and inclusive community for our LGBTQ+ and BIPOC players. While every group has their own rules and boundaries, we share pronouns (if players want to) and uphold an inclusive environment. We celebrate our diverse community and welcome all members!

Every player fills out a form asking about any special needs they may have during a game of D&D, and our team will make sure that their needs are met.

  • During every session of D&D there is a trained member of Dice Party, who has undergone criminal background checks, that oversees and moderates the players. Outside of Dice Party, our Game Masters (GMs) work professionally with kids and in mental health.

Before our first session, players must fill out a questionnaire going over what they would like to avoid in game (ex: spiders, animal violence, etc.). Once we have this information, no GM or player is allowed to bring these things up. At the beginning of each story arc we go over ground rules to make sure every player is on the same page about what is appropriate.

  • Yes! Every group meets virtually either on Zoom or Discord depending on what the players prefer. All you need is a stable internet connection, a mic, and ideally a camera.
